December graduates will travel downtown to walk across the stage to receive their diploma.

Margaret Kelly, the executive director in the Office of Community Project, along with her office, handle all of the special events and official University events, like commencements.

Kelly said TCU chose the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena because it is the best off-site venue with the most seating for graduation ceremonies.

“[Fort Worth Convention Center Arena] is centrally located and is within walking distance to downtown hotels where a lot of our visiting families stay, as well as within walking distance to a variety of restaurants where graduates’ families can gather for lunch after the ceremony to celebrate,” Kelly said.

The decision to move the ceremony off campus was needed due to the renovations of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

The last time the commencement ceremony was off campus was in May 2004 also at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.

TCU Commencement will return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fall 2015, Kelly said. She said it will be newly renovated and improved for the ceremony by that time.

According to TCU’s Commencement website, graduates, families, and all people attending the ceremony can park in two parking garages operated by The Fort Worth Convention Center Arena. There is a cost of $15 for parking.

There are directions on the website to help students and their families travel to the convention center.

The ceremony is on Dec. 20 at 10 a.m.
