The Horned Frogs spent yesterday afternoon celebrating a share of a Big 12 Championship.

This afternoon, there will be a different vibe in Fort Worth.

TCU was excluded from the inaugural College Football Playoff on Sunday, falling from No. 3 to No. 6.

The Horned Frogs are left out of the four-team postseason playoff, and will have to wait a little longer to find out their bowl destination.

In spite of a 55-3 drubbing of Iowa State, the selection committee dropped TCU three spots in the rankings.

Ohio State took the No. 4 spot after a 59-0 win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game.

Alabama finished at No. 1, Oregon slotted in at No. 2 and Florida State grabbed the No. 3 ranking.

TCU was also leapfrogged by Baylor, with the committee ranking the Bears at No. 5.

Selection Committee Chairman Jeff Long said the movement in the polls was due to Ohio State’s impressive win, not the play of the two Big 12 teams.

“Once we saw the body of work, it was about Ohio State’s movement up…that made a difference to the committee,” Long said. “It was really about Ohio State, not TCU.”

TCU will face Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 31 at 11:30 a.m. The game will be played in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
