The Student Government Association elected Fine Arts Representative Cody Cox as next semester’s student outreach chair Tuesday to replace the departing Chair Abigail Buckley.

“As outreach chair, I feel my responsibility is to continue all the great programs we already have, as well as to further communication between representatives and their constituents for better decisions to be made,” Cox said.

Cox said she plans to meet with her committee next semester to keep working on “a much improved ‘table talk,’” a student feedback station, and to develop ideas for SGA to connect with the students.

“I have served on the student outreach committee for two semesters, so I have a good idea about what to expect,” Cox said.

“It is important to let students know that SGA is here and always willing to listen and to truly give them the opportunity to have a say in their university experience,” Cox said.

Cox said she wants to run the position “as smoothly as possible.”

Previous student outreach chair Abigail Buckley said that she had to step down as chair for a study abroad trip to Italy.

When asked what advise she would give to Cody to be successful, Buckley said, “Listen to your committee and ask for help when you need it. Being committee chair is a team effort!”

“I will miss SGA and TCU while I am gone but I know that everything is in good hands,” Buckley said.
