Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill reportedly transferring to TCU

Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill has been granted a release from Texas A&M and will transfer to TCU, according to a report from Gigem247.

Hill, a sophomore from Southlake, Texas, started Texas A&M’s first eight games this season before losing his starting spot following a suspension. In those eight games played, Hill threw for over 2,600 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

After a 59-0 blowout loss to Alabama, Texas A&M’s third straight loss, Hill was benched in favor of true freshman Kyle Allen. The decision was made in part because Hill faced a two game suspension for an unspecified violation of team rules.

If Hill does indeed leave Texas A&M for TCU, he would be the second straight Aggie backup quarterback to do so, following in the footsteps of senior quarterback Matt Joeckel.

Unlike Joeckel, Hill would have to sit out a year if he were to join the Frogs. Joeckel already graduated from Texas A&M before he transferred to TCU, which allowed him to play his final year of eligibility immediately as a graduate student.

Texas A&M has not released an official statement regarding Hill’s release and intent to transfer as of Friday morning.
