Womens basketball leaves Allen Fieldhouse with win

TCU women’s basketball took down Kansas on Wednesday night by a score of 80-63, the first ever TCU win in Allen Fieldhouse.

The victory improves the Frogs to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play. Junior guard Zahna Medley led the way for TCU with 21 points and 11 assists, the second double-double of her career.

Veja Hamilton also came up big for the Frogs. The junior scored 20 points and a grabbed a game high eight rebounds.

The game started off close, but the Frogs went on a 7-4 run in the last 7:45 of the first half to take a 38-26 lead entering halftime.

Forward Chelsea Prince scored a career high 19 points. She shot 3-for-7 from the three-point line and forced four turnovers.

In the second half, the Jayhawks were able to cut to the Frogs’ lead to two after Kansas’ Chelsea Gardner made three consecutive baskets. Prince answered the Jayhawks’ rally with two three-pointers to extend the Frog’s lead to seven.

TCU later extended its lead to double digits and never looked back.

The Frogs have now won seven of their last eight games. It’s also the first time the Frogs have won three straight Big 12 games.

TCU will host the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the University Recreation Center.
