It will be an emotional night for 17 seniors competing in their last home meet in the TCU natatorium this Friday against North Texas.

The women’s swimming and diving team, with a record of 6-3, will take on the North Texas Mean Green on senior night, which marks the last home meet of the 2014-15 season.

Seniors from the men’s and women’s team will be honored prior to the meet.

Senior Mackenzie Schuler said this meet will be especially emotional for her.

“I have invested so much into this team and it is something you don’t want to let go,” Schuler said.

Schuler is expected to swim in the free and medley relay races. Schuler swam a 1:53.94 200-yard free against West Virginia for her second-place finish.

Senior Ali Bleasdell is expected to swim in the 200-yard fly and 400-yard IM. Bleasdell swam a 2:04.22 200-yard fly and a 2.07.55 200-yard IM in the meet against West Virginia for her second-place finishes.

Although the women are the only ones competing, the men will be having an inter-squad competition during the breaks.

“Since it is senior night it is going to have a huge impact on us wanting to win,” said senior Cooper Robinson. “It is the girls’ last home meet and just to have that win under the senior’s belt I think is very important to them.”

Friday’s meet will be senior night No. 35 for TCU head coach Richard Sybesma.

When asked about the seniors Sybesma said they were excellent leaders that have done a good job of leading in and out of the pool.

After a 154-131 victory against North Texas last season and the latest 155-145 victory against West Virginia, the women’s team is anticipating back-to-back wins.

“Coming in everyone is nervous freshmen year but they [seniors] did a really good job welcoming us, supporting us and leading us,” freshman Maddie Johnson said. “I hope we come together one last time [at home] and battle it out for the win.”

The buzzer will sound off at 6 p.m. signaling the start of the first race on Friday, Jan. 30 in the University Recreation Center Natatorium.
