TCU rifle took a 4,678-4,613 victory over UTEP Saturday in its last home meet of the 2014-15 season.

The Horned Frogs have not lost their last home meet of the season since 2006.

Sophomore Sally Li lead the Frogs with a 583 in smallbore and a career-high of 599 in air rifle. Li finished with a career-high aggregate score of 1,182.

Li said she strives to improve at every meet.

“Every meet is important to me because every meet is an experience,” Li said.

Freshman Mindy Miles, who got a perfect score in air rifle at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship last weekend, finished with an aggregate score of 1,170.

“I wanted to do well as an individual but overall I really wanted our team to see that we have a lot of potential and we can do really well,” Miles said.

Junior Hannah Black finished with a score of 1,164 and junior Kelly Bogart with a score of 1,155.

This was also the last home meet for seniors Claudia Duksa and Lydia McGarva.

UTEP’s Rachael Schoenrock had the lead score of 585 in smallbore while Amy Bock had the lead score of 588 in air rifle. Despite the team’s effort, UTEP was short of a win.

The rifle team has not lost a meet against UTEP since the 2004-05 season.

TCU entered the contest following a second-place finish at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship with an overall team score of 4,665.

The Frogs will shoot it out to qualify for the NCAA Championships on February 21 when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado against Air Force. Members of the team have some expectations as they prepare for qualifiers.

“Just to be focused and work hard,” Li said.

“I just want our team to be very consistent but overall just do well,” Miles said.

Head coach Karen Monez said she wants her team to keep building on the skills that they have developed during the season.

“It is just a matter of doing what we need to do to make sure we are in Alaska for the NCAA Championships,” Monez said.
