The Frogs for the Cure Celebration and 2015 kickoff is Tuesday. The event both commemorates efforts made in the past year and sparks excitement for what lies ahead.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the Brown-Lupton University Union ballroom with a party and a check presentation. TCU Frogs for the Cure representatives are expected to present the Susan G. Komen organization with a check from the previous year’s fundraising results.

Frogs for the Cure is an organization that supports women with breast cancer and advocates for research to find a cure. It started at the university in 2005. In 2010, the organization filmed its first music video and has now become an annual tradition.

A behind-the-scenes version of the Frogs for the Cure 2014 music video and performances by the hip hop group featured in the video are expected to be part of the group’s annual spring celebration.

“The annual spring celebration for Frogs for the Cure is a three-part love fest,” said Ann Louden, director of Frogs for the Cure.

Louden said the behind-the-scenes version of the video is “a great lead-in to the announcement about plans for this year’s music video.”

“I am very excited that our surprise entertainer for this year’s video will actually be with us on Tuesday,” Louden said.

Tuesday’s event also includes a pink pregame dinner for the TCU women’s basketball game against Kansas that night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Louden said she promised an “over-the-top” entertainment at the pregame dinner.

After dinner guests are expected to head to the Special Events Gym in the Recreation Center for the basketball game. The hip hop dance group from the music video is set to perform at halftime along with entertainers from New York who were part of the “Brave” video production.

Dr. Judith Salerno, CEO and president of Dallas-based Komen is expected to attend the celebration. Other guests include Chancellor Victor Boschini, Athletic Director Chris Del Conte and women’s basketball coach Raegan Pebley.

The event is open to all students, faculty and staff. Email [email protected] to attend the kickoff party.
