This story has been modified to fix Naz Long’s first name, which was previously written as “Daz.”

FORT WORTH, Texas — Georges Niang and Monte Morris each had 19 points and No. 17 Iowa State ended the regular season with another comeback win, beating TCU 89-76 on Saturday night to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament.

After only two points with three turnovers before halftime, Niang had two assists, two rebounds and a layup as Iowa State (22-8, 12-6 Big 12) went ahead to stay with a 16-5 run in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second half. That included the assist on a tiebreaking 3-pointer by Naz Long.

Kenrich Williams had 17 points and Kyan Anderson 16 for TCU (17-14, 4-14), which had won its previous three home games.

Bryce Dejean-Jones added 15 points for the Cyclones, who had a 63-point outburst in the second half. Jameel McKay had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cyclones trailed by 10 before halftime, only half the deficit they had to overcome their previous game. Iowa State was coming off a 77-70 win Monday night over Oklahoma, when it rallied from 21 points down. That was the largest comeback in school history — and the biggest this season by a team from one of the power-five conferences.

Naz Long’s 3-pointer from the right wing for a 40-37 lead with 16:54 left.

The lead got extended after Anderson rebounded his own miss after beating the shot clock, only to throw a pass right to Morris for a turnover. Morris took off the other way and had the alley-oop pass to McKay for a highlight dunk.

Trey Zeigler had 14 points and Brandon Parrish 11 for TCU. Karviar Shepherd had 10 rebounds.

TCU was down 5-0 before Anderson hit a 3-pointer 3 1/2 minutes into the game, then added two free throws right after that for a tie.

Niang had two quick turnovers and the Frogs pushed out to an 18-10 lead before Zeigler, who had 14 points, missed a dunk that ricocheted hard off the back rim.

Long grabbed the long rebound and turned that into a 3-pointer, a sequence that had Niang pumping his fist and the Cyclones within 18-13.

That was only a short burst of momentum. After Dejean-Jones made a free throw to make it 18-14 with 7 minutes left in the half, Iowa State didn’t get closer until its opening surge of the second half.

Zeigler made a layup before Shepherd had a steal that led to another 3-pointer by Anderson. The Frogs led 26-16 Anderson rebounded a miss by Niang and passed to Parrish for a 3-pointer from the left corner.

TIP-INS

Iowa St.: The Cyclones came in with a Big 12-best 79 points a game, and reached that on Niang’s layup with 3:23 left after scoring only 26 points in the first half. At that point, they already had 53 points in the second half.

TCU: The Horned Frogs lost for only the third time in 19 games this season when they led at halftime. … It was the final home game for seniors Anderson, Zeigler and Amric Fields. Anderson is a Fort Worth native.
