Womens tennis winning streak ends against Baylor

The No. 21 TCU Horned Frog women’s tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision against conference rivals Baylor in the first Big 12 match of the season.

The loss dropped TCU to 10-6 on the season, while the No. 6 Lady Bears improved to 16-4.

The Frogs entered on a six-match winning streak but a strong showing in the singles matches by the Lady Bears sealed the loss for the purple and white.

TCU fared much better on the doubles side, where the team of Simona Parajova and Sofika Kadzhaya extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches.

Head coach Lee Taylor Walker said that the weekend was a “step in the right direction” for the squad.

“I just feel like we are learning a lot right now and it’s a great time of growth for our team,” Walker said.

The Frogs next play against UAB at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
