The University of North Texas Board of Regents unanimously voted to partner with TCU to form a medical school in Fort Worth.

It would be the second medical school in DFW to offer a M.D. degree. The UNTHSC partnership with TCU would also be the first public/private medical school partnership, according to UNTHSC President Michael Williams.

The two universities plan to begin accepting applications for the new M.D. school in 2017. The first class of 60 students is expected to enroll in the fall of 2018.

An announcement from both schools is expected at a 2 p.m. event at Bass Hall in Fort Worth.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
