Alumnus: Brandon Chamberlin

Year of Graduation: 2009

Major: Marketing and business information systems double major

Current city: Chicago, Ill.

Job: Management consulting analyst at Accenture

Words of wisdom to graduates: “Find a job that keeps you active, engaged, and that constantly challenges you. Don’t just look for something that pays you well, although that’s important, too. Transitioning from college life to the working world is difficult, but it is one of the most fun times in your life. Although you won’t be able to spend every Tuesday night at The Moon [Bar] you will quickly realize how much fun it is to be carefree on the weekends.”

Alumna: Meghann Hewitt

Year of Graduation: 2001

Major: Speech communication

Current City: Fort Worth

Job: Owner of DeMaFille, a bridal boutique

Words of wisdom to graduates: “Be confident in the decisions you make and stand behind them. Don’t be afraid to take risks because you never know when they’ll pay off.”

Alumna: Bea Dutton

Year of Graduation: 1979

Major: History with a double minor in English and speech

Alumna: Tami Smith Dick

Year of Graduation: 1983

Major: Speech communication

Current city: Fort Worth

Job: Mother of two children

Words of wisdom you have for graduates: You should be very proud of yourself having worked diligently over the last four years to attain your college degree, and you now have an empty slate for your next phase of your life. My advice to you is to look deeply into your soul to discover what your passion is in life and dedicate your goals to be able to fulfill those passions. Many graduates settle for something too early that never meets their goals and never makes them happy. Don’t settle. Always strive to find your passion, and when you do, your soul will be fulfilled.”

Alumnus: Dane Pearson

Year of Graduation: 2008

Major: Finance

Current city: Houma, La.

Alumna: Nanette Dahlstrom

Year of Graduation: 1978

Major: Fashion merchandising

Words of wisdom you have for graduates: “Keep as many irons in the fire as you can. Something will come of your connections/experiences. Go after something you enjoy doing, otherwise the workday will be a long one. Stay humble. I made a lot of copies as an intern at the Austin Film Festival before I was hired, and ironically enough, I’m still making copies.”
