Feed Your Body and Soul Week began Feb. 21 with a luncheon and guest speaker, former “The Biggest Loser” contestant Abby Rike, and will continue with more events this week. FYBSW is held by TCU every spring and correlates closely to National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, according to the Counseling, Testing and Mental Health Center website.

Eric Wood of the counseling center said the purpose of FYBSW was to prevent negative body image, which can lead to destructive behavior, such as eating disorders. FYBSW began because Wood said many college students want to be healthy but don’t have the resources on how to do so.

The purpose of FYBSW is to act as an outreach program to students to promote healthy lifestyles, Wood said. This is the fourth year that TCU has held FYBSW, he said.
