Frogs finish eighth at PING/Arizona State Invitational

TCU senior Prisela Campbell tied for fourth individually, while the Horned Frogs finished eighth after Sunday’s final round of the PING/Arizona State Invitational.

Campbell posted her best result since finishing fourth in her collegiate debut as a freshman in helping lead TCU to the team title at the 2007 Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.

Helped by four birdies, Campbell carded a final round 73 to finish at even-par 216, five strokes behind medalist Sophia Popov of USC.

Brooke Beeler also shot a 73 for TCU. The Butler, Ill., native was 1 under through 14 holes and tied for 15th individually, giving her a team-best five top-20 finishes this season.

Sanna Nuutinen and Rachel Raastad added 76s for the Horned Frogs.

No. 34 TCU totaled a final-round 298, consistent with its 297 and 296 from its opening two rounds.

The Horned Frogs posted their 17th top-10 result in their last 20 tournaments.

Second-ranked UCLA won the team title with an 863, four strokes ahead of No. 1 USC.

TCU will return to Arizona for its next tournament when it begins play April 14 at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Scottsdale.
