Frogs snag win against Lobos in volleyball conference opener

The volleyball team opened conference play with a 3-1 (25-18, 16-25, 25-22, 25-22) win over New Mexico in Albuquerque on Wednesday night.

Senior middle blocker Kourtney Edwards became the university’s all-time blocks leader early in the game and ended the night with 446 career blocks.

The Horned Frogs’ first-ever win at New Mexico was aided by an offense that produced 51 kills. Junior outside hitter Christy Hudson had 13 kills against the Lobos, Edwards produced 12 kills and sophomore middle blocker Kristen Hester tallied 11 kills and seven blocks.

Sophomore setter Megan Munce had her sixth double-double of the season, racking up 37 assists and 11 digs.

Senior libero Katelyn Blackwood had 14 digs on the night.

The team is now 8-3 on the season.

The Horned Frogs will play Tulsa in the University Recreation Center Friday at 6:30 p.m.
