An outdated Jack in the Box restaurant on West Berry Street was torn down to be completely rebuilt and renovated, a company spokesperson said.

Brian Luscomb, spokesman for Jack in the Box, said the West Berry Street site, built in the 1970s, was one of the older storefronts and was going to be updated by the company.

According to the City of Fort Worth Planning Administration, a permit to tear down the existing Jack in the Box was issued Monday.

Luscomb said the new restaurant could open as early as mid-June and will definitely be open this summer.

David Schroeder, planning manager for Fort Worth’s Planning and Development Department, said Thursday afternoon that it doesn’t look like there has been a submission for a new permit to build on the space yet, but the building of a new Jack in the Box in the same space was discussed in a pre-development meeting.
