After a difficult loss on the road to the New Mexico Lobos, the Lady Frogs return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum hoping to advance their home winning streak to 18.

Head coach Jeff Mittie said the Lady Frogs are going to have to be aggressive and stop conference rival Brigham Young in transition to win the game Wednesday.

The Lady Frogs dropped out of the Associated Press Top-25 poll after they lost 60-53 to the Lobos in New Mexico on Saturday.

Mittie said they did not play well against the Lobos and were not as aggressive as they should have been.

“We are coming off our lowest point total all year, so we gotta be more aggressive and make more shots,” Mittie said.

The key to beating BYU will be to stop the Cougars in transition on defense as well as be aggressive and make more shots on offense, Mittie said. The Cougars are playing well and, overall, have a good and balanced team, he said.

The Cougars are tied with TCU for the No. 1 spot in the Mountain West with a 5-2 conference record.

Junior guard Helena Sverrisdottir said the team is focused on making itself better.

“As of right now, all we are thinking about is ourselves,” Sverrisdottir said. “We just wanna get better every day, and…of course, in the back of our minds we are thinking about…that home streak that we have, and we know that the last loss is BYU.”

Last year in January, the team lost to BYU 62-46.

Mittie said the Lady Frogs are playing a different style than a year ago and the team now has more depth.
