All the questions of the past two days revolved around where junior guard Natasha Lacy had gone to, and what her Lady Frogs would be able to do without her against No. 3 seed Rutgers Tuesday night. Now the question is whether she even would have made a difference.
TCU fell to the Scarlet Knights 82-48 Tuesday, knocking them out of the NCAA tournament and ending their season. Junior forward Ashley Davis, senior forward Vanessa Clementino and sophomore guard Adrianne Ross each managed 10 points apiece in the contest, but their performances were overshadowed by Rutgers’ Cappie Pondexter’s 24, a game-high.
Although the Frogs led early at 8-2, the Knights charged ahead and never looked back, shooting an absurd 55 percent from the field for the game. Rutgers’ fast-paced offense continually found open jumpers from the wings and efficiently capitalized on TCU’s abysmal 28 percent shooting. The Frogs were also pushed around inside, and were outrebounded by 16.
Rutgers will face No. 2 seed Tennessee next in the Sweet 16.
