Reconciliation Day highlighted students’ concerns and advocacy in the TCU community from 1998 to 2020.

Returning student-athletes recognized at event

The president of the NCAA will be speaking about the current condition of college athletics in America at 7 p.m. today in the Ed Landreth Auditorium.

Following NCAA President Myles Brand’s speech, TCU’s NCAA Degree Completion recipients will be recognized.

Degree Completion recipients are former student-athletes who left school before earning their degrees and now are receiving a grant from the NCAA to return to finish school.

TCU athletics director Danny Morrison said there will be a panel that includes Brand, Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson, head football coach Gary Patterson, women’s basketball player Adrianne Ross and former TCU baseball player Austin Adams after the recipients are announced.

The panel will be in a discussion format where panelists will answer questions from the audience.

Adams said he thinks this event is important for TCU students to attend because it will be interesting to hear the president of the NCAA speak.

“This program is relevant to TCU because we have strong athletics here,” Adams said. “We have the commitment from the school top to bottom. We can compete with anybody in the country.”

The event is being sponsored by TCU Athletics and the TCU Frog Club.
