Sandora Irvin named C-USA Female Athlete of the Year

    Conference USA named women’s basketball forward Sandora Irvin 2004-05 Female Athlete of the Year for her work during her senior season. Irvin led the Frogs to their second C-USA Tournament title in three years, was named to the conference’s All-Decade team, made her second consecutive C-USA first team and won the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award for the third straight season.

    She finished the 2004-05 season averaging 19.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 2.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

    The Phoenix Mercury chose Irvin third overall in April’s WNBA draft.
