Swimming & Diving
The TCU women’s swimming & diving team lost to San Diego State on Saturday 123-173. Sophomore Sabine Rasch set a university record in the 100-freestyle, finishing the freestyle with a time of 50.75. Senior Maria Paula Alvarez also competed strong for the Frogs individually with a win in both the 500-freestyle and the 1000-freestyle. TCU is now 1-1, 1-1 while SDSU leads the Mountain West Conference 5-0, and are 6-0 overall. The women’s team will be back in the water Nov. 11 at home against Colorado State.
The equestrian team took home a major upset on Saturday with an 11-7 win against No. 3 Auburn. The Horned Frogs competed well in both the Western side and in Horsemanship. The Western side proved not be a problem for the Frogs, as they took the win 8-1. In Horsemanship, each rider for TCU was able to tally a point for the Frogs. The women also did well individually. Three Frogs collected MVP honors: sophomore Callie Selchau, sophomore Lexie Estrada and senior Kelsey Huffman.
The women of the Horned Frog rifle team grabbed another win to add to its undefeated season on Sunday against Nebraska, winning 4,690-4,602. The Frogs set records as a team and individually, posting the highest aggregate score in the NCAA this season. Sophomore Sarah Beard set a TCU record in smallbore with a score of 589. TCU is now 5-0 on the season.
The women’s tennis team competed in Waco on Saturday at the HEB Baylor Invitational. Doubles pair Frederica Denti Katariina Tuohimaa lost to a doubles pair from Georgia in the championship finals. Tuohimaa also lost in the singles championship finals to No. 6 Maho Kowase from UGA. The women’s team is now finished for the fall portion of individual events, they will open up spring competition in January.
