TCU to Play in 2011 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam

FORT WORTH–The TCU men’s basketball team has been selected to play in the 2011 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam along with seven other teams Nov. 18-21 at the University of Virgin Islands on the island on St. Thomas.

Joining the Horned Frogs in the tournament will be Drake, Drexel, Marquette, Norfolk State, Ole Miss, Virginia and Winthrop. TCU will play three games at the event, including its opening matchup Nov. 18 against Virginia. The following round’s contest will be against either Norfolk State or Drexel on Nov. 19 (loss vs. Virginia) or Nov. 20 (win vs. Virginia), while the Frogs’ final game will be played Nov. 21.

All contests held in the Virgin Islands will be played at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, although for the first time this year, the Paradise Jam will begin with two opening round games on the U.S. mainland. Marquette will play host Norfolk State on Nov. 14, while Virginia will host Winthrop on Nov. 15.

TCU’s selection will mark its first appearance ever in the Paradise Jam. The Frogs’ last regular-season tournament away from the U.S. mainland came during the 2000-01 season at the Thanksgiving Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Fans looking to join TCU in the Virgin Islands can purchase game tickets and travel packages through the tournament’s host, Basketball Travelers. Full details for the event can be found on the tournament’s official web site, ParadiseJam.com.
