Winter Olympic update: U.S.A. remains on top

The U.S. furthered its lead in overall medals during the weekend bringing the total count to 24. The U.S. is followed closely by Germany, which has 21 medals to date.

On Friday, the men brought in two medals in the super G (super giant slalom) event. Bode Miller clutched the silver followed by Andrew Weibrecht with the bronze.

Saturday proved even more successful with medals in three different events. Shani Davis won a silver in the 1500-meter speed skating event while Apolo Ohno got the bronze in the 1000-meter. On the slopes, Lindsey Vonn brought home the bronze in the women’s super G.

Miller earned another medal Sunday, this time a gold, in the men’s super combined.
