TCU Barnes & Noble to host book signing event for Teen Mom 2 star

Kailyn Lowry, from Teen Mom 2, will sign copies of her book “Pride Over Pity” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 26 at TCU Barnes & Noble.

Upon the book’s release, the store was selected as one of the locations for a free book signing.

“We have heard some people talking about it,” Derek Holbert, the bookstore’s general manager said, “seems like there is quite a bit of interest."

Lowry is known for her appearance as one of four women who were filmed for MTV’s popular 2009 reality television show, 16 & Pregnant. Lowry was also on MTV’s 2011 television series, Teen Mom 2, detailing her experiences after giving birth to her son, Isaac Rivera.

Lowry and then boyfriend, Jo Rivera, struggled with balancing the stress of raising a child together and maintaining a relationship, according to the celebrity news website, Hollywoodlife.com.

“An unintentional custody battle began on this season of Teen Mom 2 when Kailyn Lowry and her husband, Javi Marroquin, decide to buy a house and move out of state with her son, Isaac,” according to Hollywoodlife.com. In the show, the episodes continued to focus on Lowry’s struggle to keep her son safe and her life under control.

Since the completion of Teen Mom 2, the now 22-year-old is still married to Javi Marroquin and has given birth to a second son, Marshall Marroquin, according to Okmagazine.com. Lowry told the website that “Pride Over Pity” focuses on her experiences with rape, abortion and other serious matters that were not shown on television.

Book signings are a great way for the community to connect with authors and a way for TCU Barnes & Noble to stay connected to the local community, Hobert said.

David George, the store’s  trade book manager, said, “Book signings are a good way to remind the community that the TCU Barnes & Noble is always open to the public.”

TCU Barnes & Noble is located at 2950 W. Berry St. For more information, visit tcu.bncollege.com.
