Paschal High School traded trash for cash to raise money for the band

The Paschal High School band hoped to trade Trash for Cash to raise money to run the band.

Paschal’s band members raise $150,000 every year and this year they are holding three different events to raise this money.

At the Trash to Cash event, the band collected clothes, shoes, electronics, music equipment, sporting goods equipment, kitchenware, home appliances, toys and books. The event had a breakfast taco food truck, live music in the Paschal cafeteria and pets to play with and potentially adopt.

This is the first time Paschal has ever done this event. Band Booster President Stephen Kaye said that a lot of other schools in this area do this event so they wanted to try it out.

The fundraising chair, Jan McKean, heard about the event and came up with the idea. They were trying to raise funds but do it with less “manpower” because it is a busy time for the band.

The Paschal band students helped out at the event.

Kaye was in charge of the event and said people don’t realize how much work is needed to help run the band.

“It takes a fair amount of help from lots of great people to be able to run the band,” he said.

Earlier this year, the band hosted an event called March-A-Thon and later this year they will have an event called the Big Band Dance to raise more money.
