Women’s cross country places 7th at NCAA Regional Championship

The women’s cross country team traveled to College Station, Texas to compete at the NCAA South Central Region Championship Friday, Nov 10.

They competed in the 6-kilometer race, setting five personal bests and placing seventh overall.

Junior Brenley Goertzen crossed the finish line first, placing 12th overall with a time of 20:18.2. Freshman Evelyn Mandel finished next, running the fastest time of her freshman campaign with a time of 21:01.8.

“I’m extremely proud of these women,” head coach Jennifer Fazioli said. “It was a solid end to the season.”

Along with Goertzen and Mandel, senior Nicole Hicks (21:21.8), sophomore Lindsay Tomaini (21:43.3) and junior Molly Hamel (22:37.8) also set personal bests.

TCU had an average time of 21:24.56.
