TCU junior Amy Okonkwo was named the Big 12’s player of the week after posting a career-high 31 points against Hampton Wednesday.
Okonkwo shot 11 for 14 against the Pirates and added 7 rebounds in the Horned Frogs 90-68 victory. She scored the 31 points in just 19 minutes off of the bench.
The California native has scored in double digits in 10 of 11 games this season despite largely coming off the bench. Her 16.4 points per game rank 6th in the Big 12.
Okonkwo is the second player in program history to be named the conference player of the week, following Zahna Medley who won the award twice in her career (2012 – 2016).
