The TCU women’s soccer team kept their unbeaten record alive, defeating Missouri 1-0 in overtime Sunday.

First-year Maddy Warren dribbled down the line, passed a Tigers defender and shot the ball into the low post for a game-winning goal in overtime.

“To win a game that way and for it to be a freshman, I think the future bodes well for us,” Head Coach Eric Bell said after the game.

Sophomore goalie Emily Alvarado got the start in place of veteran Katie Lund and had her second shutout of the year. Alvarado has yet to allow a goal this season.

The game was back and forth in the first half, with both teams attempting four shots on goal.

The Horned Frogs took control in the second half, dominating possession.

TCU almost secured a game-winning goal in regulation off the foot of Kayla Hill in the 74th minute, but her shot ricocheted off the post to keep the game scoreless.

“I think our quality showed as the game went on,” Bell said. “We were doing what we do from a soccer perspective.”

Warren’s goal was the epitome of the Horned Frogs second-half control, despite the fact it came in overtime.

The road win brings the Horned Frogs to 5-0-1 on the season, just the third time in program history they have been undefeated through six games.

“I think it gives us confidence on the road to play like we did in a hostile environment and it being our first time on the road against Power 5,” Bell said. “We were able to weather the storm and to also show our quality was great.”

The team will continue their road stretch when they travel to face Arkansas Little Rock Friday. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
