Lauren Heard poured in a career-high 20 points, and TCU forced 21 turnovers, as the Horned Frogs defeated the Wildcats 61-47 on Wednesday to get their first road victory in Big 12 play.

Heard also added five rebounds, five assists and six steals in her best game as a Horned Frog.

Early in the game, it was guard Kianna Ray who got the ball rolling for TCU. She scored the Horned Frogs’ first five points and finished with 11 total in the first quarter alone.

Ray would finish the game with 16 points on 6-7 shooting, including 4-4 from deep. The junior from Austin has now hit three or more three-pointers in eight games this season.

After Ray got TCU going, the Horned Frogs never looked back, heading into the halftime break with a comfortable 27-13 lead.

Though Kansas State crawled back within seven midway through the fourth quarter, TCU was unfazed and rode dominant play from Heard to a resounding 61-47 victory.

“To get a road victory in the Big 12 means a lot, no matter how you can get it done,” head coach Raegan Pebley said. “We will cherish this win.”

The 47 points scored by the Wildcats were the second-fewest they have scored all season and the fewest the Horned Frogs have allowed in a Big 12 victory since 2016.

Forward Amy Okonkwo scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in the victory. The senior has now scored in double figures in six consecutive games.

TCU will return home at 2 p.m. on Sunday for a matchup with Oklahoma State.
