The past day’s defeats were made against some of the high school hoops, with only one team being victorious on the road.

Paschal gave first-place North Crowley a fight in Tuesday, January 22, district 4-6A clash but fell in front of their home crowd 49-35.

Fort Worth Country Day lost against Cistercian, 48-34, but Arlington Heights won an important road game over Southwest, 65-62.

Here’s the midweek roundup for the local teams:

Paschal

Despite being on the wrong end of the final score, things seem to be looking up for Paschal and head coach, David Shabay.

The game finished 49-35, but the Panthers kept-up with North Crowley for three quarters before falling behind in the fourth.

Aggressive defense contributed to the team’s success. North Crowley couldn’t solve Paschal’s zone and was held to their second-lowest point total of the season, in the win.

Billy Hill and David Wamstad led the way for Paschal with eight points and three assists each. Jack Simanek chipped in seven points and Royce Mendez added six.

Isaiah Crawford was the standout forward for North Crowley, leading the team with 14 points, while guards Isaiah Wyatt and Michael Coleman each added eight.

The loss drops Paschal to 4-6 in district play, placing them fifth in the district. The top four teams from each district will make the playoffs.

Paschal takes the court again Friday, January 25,  at Arlington Martin. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Country Day

The Falcons are still without a victory in Southwest Prep Conference (SPC) after their defeat Wednesday, January 23, against Cistercian, 48-34.

For the second game in a row, FWCD struggled to get their offense rolling, scoring only 34 points against one of the top teams in the league.

The win moves Cistercian to 3-0 in the SPC. FWCD falls to 0-2 in the conference.

Next up for the Falcons is a home game against Casady Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Arlington Heights

Entering Tuesday, Arlington Heights sat one game behind Southwest in the district standings.

That changed after a 65-62 road win for the Yellowjackets, which moved them to 5-3 in district 6-5A.

Arlington Heights now sits alongside Southwest in the standings in a tie for third, placing them within the playoff picture. Eastern Hills is currently three games behind them for the final spot.

The Yellowjackets will return to Billingsley Field House on Friday to host Carter-Riverside. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
