Ash Wednesday marks start of Lent

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a Christian holiday that happens for the six weeks leading up to Easter.

People may have black ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross, which is a sign of repentance.

TCU will have an Ash Wednesday Service Wednesday at noon in the Robert Carr Chapel. A mass will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the Robert Carr Chapel and 5:15 p.m. in the Brown Lupton University Union Ballroom.

TCU will have an Ash Wednesday service and two masses.

Churches around the area will also have Ash Wednesday masses and services.
