TCU alumnus, local high school coach dead at 29

    TCU alumnus Cody McCarty died today. McCarty, 29, was the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Mansfield Timberview High School for three years.

    The cause of death has not been determined.

    McCarty was the tight end for the TCU football team and started as a redshirt in 2000. McCarty graduated with a criminal justice degree. 

    McCarty is the son of TCU alumni Mickey McCarty and Belinda Tijerina.

    McCarty’s father died June 2010. McCarty’s father played baseball and basketball according to TCU Letterman’s association website.
