Arrest made in Old Rip’s carjacking

 

Fort Worth police said Wednesday that an arrest had been made Jan. 19 in connection with the carjacking that occurred earlier this month in the Old Rip’s parking lot.

The suspect was identified as Jason Hugh Pollard, 32, from North Richland Hills, Sharron Neal, a public relations officer with the Fort Worth Police Department, wrote in an email.

According to the email, officers told the robbery detective they had found what appeared to be the victim’s vehicle based on the description given when the carjacking was reported. After the officers made a probable cause stop on the I-35 service road at East Rosedale Street, they found the only person in the car was Pollard. According to the email, the officers made the probable cause stop after seeing what appeared to be the stolen gold Nissan Pathfinder.Officers confirmed through the vehicle identification number that the vehicle belonged to the victim, 22-year-old Katie Smith, and after questioning Pollard, the officers arrested him.

As of late Wednesday night, Pollard was in custody at the Tarrant County jail.
According to the email, the case file will be submitted to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office for the DA to “determine if there is enough evidence for them to accept the charge.”
