Boschini, Cavins-Tull comment on drug arrests

Chancellor Victor Boschini and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Kathy Cavins-Tull issued statements early this afternoon regarding arrests of 17 students on drug related charges early this morning.

    Chancellor Victor Boschini:

"TCU has clear expectations for its students: that they behave in an ethical manner, abide by campus policies and adhere to state and federal law. These students are charged with acting in a manner that is incompatible with TCU values, against the code of student conduct and against the law. That is simply unacceptable and such reported behavior is not tolerated at this University.

"We have a responsibility to ensure that our campus environment is healthy and safe. Today’s actions highlight that responsibility. The students involved were immediately separated from TCU and criminally trespassed from campus. Further, according to University policy, students arrested and found in violation of distributing drugs are subject to immediate expulsion from TCU."

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Kathy Cavins-Tull:

"The students arrested today were immediately separated from TCU and have been trespassed from campus. In accordance with University policy, any student found in violation of distributing drugs is subject to immediate expulsion. We have a responsibility to keep our campus free from this type of behavior. We will examine our programs and procedures to determine if new strategies need to be implemented to prevent this from happening in the future."
