No. 3 USC swept TCU at the Frogs’ final tournament of the season Friday night.

USC defeated TCU 26-24, 25-22, and 27-25, ending the Frogs’ nine-game winning streak.

This is the Frogs’ first loss since the season opener against Northern Colorado.

Coach Prentice Lewis said despite the loss, the Frogs performed well in certain areas.

“Our blocking was great tonight,” Lewis said. “Our outside hitters played the best they’ve played all year.”

Outside hitters Macy Capen and Sloane Sunstrum had one error each, which Lewis called “amazing” for their position.

Sunstrum said she thought “the little runs of points” TCU gave up to USC “affected [TCU] most this game.”

Middle blocker Mattie Burleson led the team with 11 kills. Burleson said the match helped prepare the team for the challenges ahead in the Big 12.

“We can hang with every single team in the Big 12,” Burleson said. “We just have to stay positive, from point 1 to 25.”

TCU holds a 9-2 record going into the second day of the Molten Invitational. The Frogs will face Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m. and Lehigh at 7 p.m. Saturday.
