TCU placekicker Jaden Oberkrom and wide receiver Skye Dawson earned national honors for their performances against Texas Tech on Saturday.

Oberkrom was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week and the “Star of the Week” by the Lou Groza Award, an annual award presented to the nation’s top placekicker.  College Football Performance Awards also named Oberkrom the National Placekicker of the Week.

Oberkrom set TCU and Big 12 records with six field goals and 23 scoring points. The 23 points (six field goals and five PATs) were one shy of the NCAA single-game scoring record for kickers. Oberkrom went 6-for-6 on field goals from 32, 41, 32, 45, 42 and 38 yards. His 42-yarder tied the game with 18 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Oberkrom fell one field goal short of the NCAA record seven field goals in a single game. He is No. 1 in the Big 12 and tied for fifth in the nation with two field goals per game.

The Arlington native is 14-of-16 on field goals on the season, making 14 of his last 15 attempts. He has made 10 straight field goals which ranks seventh all-time at TCU.

Oberkrom is 30-of-30 on extra point attempts. His 30 straight extra points rank eighth all-time at TCU.

Dawson earned Weekly Honor Roll honors from the Paul Hornung Award, presented to college football’s most versatile player.

The Mesquite native totaled 248 all-purpose yards and set career-highs with 10 receptions for 154 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown. Dawson also had four punt returns for 60 yards and two kickoff returns for 34 yards.
