FTDM department hosts media studies conference

For the first time, film and television scholars came from all over the world to the university for a conference on Friday and Saturday.

The “Film and Television in the 21st Century Conference” featured speakers from Sweden, India, and Canada. Other speakers came from New Jersey, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio.

The conference was split into seven sessions over two days. Topics discussed at the sessions included sexuality and gender in film and television, as well as the impact of specific genres.

Events included speeches, question-and-answer sessions, and a film screening by Greg Mansur, an associate university professor from the FTDM department.

Dallas film critic David Ray Carter also spoke about his new book, Conspiracy Cinema: Propaganda, Politics, and Paranoia.
