Women’s Basketball: Five games to watch

Womens Basketball: Five games to watch

With their first ever Big 12 season looming, the women's basketball team has some key games to watch out for. Here they are and here's why:

TCU vs. SMU – 11/28/12
TCU and SMU. Enough said. As if the rivalry weren't enough between these two teams, SMU beat TCU in Dallas 47-38 last year. The Frogs will be looking for revenge when the Mustangs come to Fort Worth late in November.

TCU vs. Georgia – 12/19/12
About a week before Christmas, the Frogs take on the Georgia Bulldogs at the DMC in a Big 12-SEC matchup. The Bulldogs are preseason ranked at No. 10 in the country and this will be a huge test for our women. If they can beat Georgia at home, it could be a sign that good things are coming for the rest of the season.

TCU vs. Baylor – 01/02/13
Coming off an incredible 40-0 season capped with a national championship last year, Brittney Griner and the Baylor Lady Bears will take on the Frogs early in January. The Bears are the preseason No. 1 team and, as long as Griner is wearing that Baylor jersey, this game will not be an easy win.

TCU vs. Oklahoma – 01/09/13
If Baylor is the top contender for the Big 12 title this year, preseason #12 Oklahoma is right behind them. Just a week after the Frogs take on the Lady Bears, they'll take on the Sherri Coale-coached Sooners. The last time the Frogs took on the Sooners at home was in 2011 and they won 76-69. If TCU wants a legitimate shot at winning the Big 12 this year, it seems very probable they will have to win this game.

TCU vs. West Virginia – 02/23/13
The second-to-last home game for the Frogs may be vital for hopes at a postseason berth and possibly a Big 12 title. Both teams are marking their first season in the Big 12 and WVU is ranked No. 17 in the preseason.
