2012-13 women’s basketball: By the numbers


    TCU women's basketball commences its inaugural season in the Big 12 this year. To reflect this, here are 12 facts, figues and stats about the team.

    1- The number of TCU players who were homeschooled. Senior guard Whitney Williams played prep basketball for the Texas Home Educators Sports Association.

    2- The number of seniors on TCU's team. Williams and forward DeLisa Gross are the sole seniors for the Horned Frogs.

    2- The number of recent NCAA champions TCU plays this year. Baylor, which went undefeated to a national title run, and Texas A&M, which won the 2010-11 championship both play TCU this season.

    8- The number of preseason-ranked top 25 teams TCU plays this year. Four teams (Baylor, Georgia, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) are ranked in the top 15.

    8- The number of returning letterwinners TCU will have this season. Antoinette Thompson is the only starter not returning for the Frogs this year.

    9- The number of NCAA tournaments TCU has played in. The last NCAA tournament appearance from the Frogs came in 2010.

    13.4- The average number of points per game sophomore guard Natalie Ventress had last year. Ventress won the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award.

    14- The number of seasons Jeff Mittie will have coached the Horned Frogs. Mittie starts his 14th year with the program this season.

    15- The number of season Jeff Williams will have called play-by-play announcing for TCU. Williams starts his 15th year with the program this season.

    60.1- The average number of points TCU scored per game last year. The Frogs were fifth in the Mountain West and 202nd in the NCAA in this category.

    77.1- The average number of points per game TCU has scored against Big 12 opponents since the 2007-08 season.

    89- The number of career blocks junior center LaTricia Lovings has in her career. Lovings is third all-time in school records in this statistic.
