Sophomore guard Chris Zurcher and junior guard Thomas Montigel represented the Horned Frogs on the Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball Team.
Both Zurcher and Montigel made the second team. Second team selections must have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA and participate in 60 percent of their team’s games. First team honorees have a GPA of 3.20 or better.
Zurcher has played in 20 of TCU’s 24 games during his second season. The San Antonio native posted five points and grabbed two rebounds in a career-best 26 minutes in a win over Rice. Zurcher is majoring in business.
Montigel has appeared in 14 games in his third season with the team. In a win over Southern Utah, Montigel started his first collegiate game and scored a career-high five points. The Fort Worth native is majoring in finance.
A total of 15 student-athletes made the first team while seven earned second team honors. Freshman and transfers are not considered for the honor.
