After defeating UT-Arlington in Arlington 11-4 Tuesday night, the TCU baseball team will return to Lupton Stadium with a two-game win streak as the Baylor Bears come to Fort Worth.

TCU has two Big 12 series wins after the beating Oklahoma State in walk-off fashion Sunday. TCU's other series win came earlier this season against Texas Tech. 

Baylor has two conference series wins, as well. The Bears defeated Kansas State and Oklahoma, but the Bears are coming off a 3-0 loss Tuesday night at Texas State.

Baylor has this week’s Big 12 Hitter of the Week with Cal Towey, who had both game-winning hits in the Bears’ series against Oklahoma. He hit a walk-off home run Friday and had an eighth-inning grand slam Sunday.

As for TCU's offense, sophomores Cody Jones and Derek Odell had multiple RBI games in Tuesday’s game against UTA. Tuesday also saw Paul Hendrix hitting his third home run of the season. Freshman Boomer White had a three-hit game Tuesday after going on a 0-23 drought.

In pitching, Baylor has a 3.59 ERA while TCU sits second in the Big 12 with a 2.86 ERA.

Baylor’s right-hander Ryan Smith has a team-high five saves in his 16 appearances while lefty Doug Ashby has a 1.08 ERA in 14 appearances.

Sophomore righty Preston Morrison leads TCU and all Big 12 starters with a 1.05 ERA. Right-hander Trey Teakell, also a sophomore, has not allowed a run in his 23.2 innings as a reliever.

Friday marks the 306th time the two teams have met. Baylor holds the series lead with a 158-143-4 record. The series will be the first time the two teams have met as conference opponents since 1996 when they were both members of the Southwest Conference.

Morrison will get the start Friday against Baylor’s right-hander Dillon Newman. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Lupton Stadium.
