TCU baseball names Zach Etheredge as volunteer assistant

TCU baseball has hired former White Sox farm system catcher Zach Etheredge as a volunteer assistant baseball coach.

Etheredge, a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, will primarily work with TCU's catchers, according to a press release. Etheredge will also "work with other aspects of the program."

Etheredge comes to TCU from the University of California Santa Barbera. Previously, he had served as a coach in the Cape Cod League and with the Texas Fury summer league organization.

TCU head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle called Etheredge a "proven developer of players, especially at the catching position."

As a player, Etheredge was a two-time team captain with the UTSA Roadrunners. He ranks in the top-ten in UTSA school records including at-bats, doubles, home runs, RBI and games started.
