TCU police are anticipating fewer alumni to attend this year’s homecoming weekend due to the 11 a.m. football game, but fans shouldn’t anticipate any security changes.

Sgt. Cathy Moody said numbers at the homecoming parade might decrease, but security measures will be the same as previous years with TCU police and Fort Worth police covering the parade.

Fort Worth police will be in charge of traffic, while TCU police will be leading the parade and manning the parking lots holding the floats.

TCU police will also have officers scattered throughout the parade for extra security.

Moody said the biggest issue that may arise during the parade is traffic problems due to the parade being moved from 6:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Six in the evening is a, “terrible time of the day” to close down South University Drive, Moody said.

Moody said that after the parade, all TCU and Fort Worth police officers along with MedStar Emergency Medical Services will go to Frog Fest from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Campus Commons.

Stephany Chastine, administrative assistant at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center, said that between 2,000 and 2,500 alumni attended last year’s homecoming weekend.

Chastine said she could not estimate the numbers for this year's homecoming festivities due to the change to an 11 a.m. football game Saturday. Last year's homecoming game against Texas Tech was at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday’s tailgate will begin at 8 a.m. in Frog Alley, and parking lots will open at 6 a.m.
