The TCU volleyball team is looking to carry momentum from its 3-0 sweep of Baylor last week into its match against Oklahoma Wednesday night at the University Recreation Center.
The Frogs are looking for their third conference win. The matchup marks the eighth time the teams have met, with the Sooners (16-4, 4-2 Big 12) holding a 6-1 lead in the series over the Horned Frogs (13-7, 2-4 Big 12).
Oklahoma won the two matchups last year, sweeping the Frogs in the first match and the second one going four sets. The Frogs last beat OU in 2004 when the teams played each other for the first time.
Freshman middle blocker Natalie Gower comes into the match after being named Big 12 Rookie of the Week and led the Frogs for the second match in a row with double-digit kills against the Bears. Senior middle blocker Yvonne Igodan continues to lead the TCU offense with 193 kills, with an average of 2.72 kills per set.
The Sooners stand at No. 3 in conference standings and are paced by the leadership of senior Sallie McLaurin, who averages 3.68 kills per set and a Big 12 Conference-best .451 hitting percentage.
The first serve is set for 6:30 p.m. with a pregame rodeo happening at 5 p.m. in front of the rec center. A free foam cowboy hat will be given to the first 125 students at the match and there will be a best-dressed cowboy contest at halftime.
The match will air live on FSSW+, FS Oklahoma and FCS Central.
