Lacrosse faces Tech in scrimmage

The men’s lacrosse club team will take on Texas Tech Sunday in preseason action.

“I’m looking forward to the game because it will be a good opportunity to see what we’re working with for the season,” head coach Cosey Carlisle said. “It’s always a good rival, and people should come out to support their fellow Frogs.”

Carlisle said he expects a lot of fans from Texas Tech because of the local fan support, but hopes to eventually build up a following for TCU lacrosse.

“I’d like to eventually average out to about 500 people per game during the season,” Carlisle said. “My goal is to get students more involved, and people should be coming out regardless just to support.”

The Horned Frogs beat the Red Raiders back in February 11-7. Carlisle said the Frogs’ diversity and different playing backgrounds is an advantage over the Red Raiders.

“Some of these guys have been playing their entire lives,” he said. “We need to work on our offensive strategies, but it’s been hard to get the guys together at practice and with the weather.”

Carlisle said he hopes to finalize his roster soon in preparation for the season next semester.

“I’m expecting at least 30 guys for next semester,” he said. “I’m finally getting to the point where I can finalize the roster and better prepare for the season.”

The scrimmage will take place Sunday on the intramural fields at 11 a.m.
