Rec Center closed due to flooding

Rec Center closed due to flooding

The campus recreation center indoor swimming pool and diving well are closed Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to an email from Mary Ellen Milam, senior associate director of the rec.

The recreation center closed Sunday because of flooding in the basement.

Recreation center staff member Jason Powell said a malfunction with pool pump equipment was the cause of the flooding, but that the source of the water has been shut off.

Members of the police and fire departments are currently working to drain the flooded areas.

The staff evacuated the recreation center after students went downstairs to the women’s locker room and discovered the area was flooded.
