Senior marketing major Stewart Trese, 23, has been identified as the student found dead in the GrandMarc Apartments this morning, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner. Trese, a Fort Worth native, died at 9:22 a.m., according to the medical examiner.

Fort Worth Police Department Public Relations Officer Tracey Knight wrote in an email that Fort Worth police were dispatched to the GrandMarc Apartments at 2855 W. Bowie to assist emergency services on a medical call.

Knight wrote that arriving officers found Trese dead at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has not released a cause of death at this time.

The death is being investigated as a possible suicide, according to an email sent by Sgt. Kelly Peel, public relations supervisor for the Fort Worth Police Department.

“TCU is very saddened by the death of one of its students,” Lisa Albert, director of strategic communications, wrote in a statement to TCU 360. “As of now, FWPD and TCU Campus Police continue to investigate the cause of death.”

Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Kathy Cavins-Tull sent out an email to TCU students and faculty Tuesday night regarding Trese’s death.

“It is with great sorrow that I convey to you the loss of a member of our community,” Cavins-Tull wrote in the email. “We are saddened by the loss of a valued member of our community and our thoughts and prayers are with Stewart’s family at this time.”

A crime alert sent out to TCU students by TCU Police Sgt. Kelly Ham asks any student with additional information surrounding the situation contact Fort Worth Police at 817-392-4300.
