For the second time this month, members of the TCU baseball team earned Big 12 Player of the Week and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors on the same day, according to a press release.

Junior second baseman Garrett Crain earned Player of the Week honors after driving in a team-high four runs last week. The transfer from Rose State College went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in the Frogs’ 13-0 rout of Houston Baptist Tuesday.

Crain is tied for a team-high batting average of .364 this season. He also has 28 hits and 10 runs this year.

Along with Crain, TCU’s third pitcher this year earned Pitcher of the Week honors in sophomore Riley Ferrell. The 6-foot-1 right-hander picked up three straight saves in his team’s sweep of Texas over the weekend.

Ferrell pitched in three straight games for the first time in his career, allowing only two hits and striking out five batters in the wins. He was named part of the Big 12 All-Freshman team last season.

The Frogs now have six members of the team who’ve won Big 12 honors this week. Junior infielder Derek Odell and junior pitcher Preston Morrison won Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week respectively on April 7.

Winners of four straight, TCU faces off against Texas Tech Tuesday night. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
