Sooners edge Frogs in 11 innings, snap 13-game winning streak

Sooners edge Frogs in 11 innings, snap 13-game winning streak

TCU baseball’s 13-game winning streak ended Saturday evening as the Oklahoma Sooners scored off two Horned Frog miscues in the top of the eleventh to win 7-5.

Reigning Big 12 Picher of the Week Preston Morrison allowed five hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. The lefty from Waxhaw, N.C., holds a 7-3 record this season.

Morrison hadn’t allowed a run and TCU hadn’t lost since April 12. The Frogs’ three-game series with OU is tied at 1-1 after TCU routed the Sooners 10-2 Friday night.

TCU trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the ninth before scoring five straight to send the game into extra innings. A wild pitch and a fielding error in the eleventh proved costly though, giving Oklahoma its pair of winning runs.

With the loss, the Frogs drops to 35-14 overall and 14-6. Because Oklahoma State (37-13, 15-5 Big 12) beat Kansas State (24-27, 4-16 Big 12) Saturday, the Cowboys now hold sole possession of the Big 12’s first place.

The purple and white will finish its series with OU Sunday afternoon. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m. from Lupton Stadium.
