Brachman Hall living on past the summer

A part of Brachman Hall will live on past the resident hall’s life.

“Brachman Bricks” is what Brachman Hall Director Jeff Alexander calls his idea to extend the memory of the place he calls home.

Alexander wants to team up with the university to give away the bricks of Brachman Hall to past residents. Although, he is still working on finding a way to give out the bricks once the building is torn down in May.

“We’d hand [the bricks] out for free,” Alexander said.

The biggest problem is figuring out how to actually hand out the bricks, as most people will already be heading home for the summer, when the demolition of the residence hall is planned, Alexander said.

Director of Housing and Residence Life Craig Allen said his department would be working with the physical plant to collect the bricks from Brachman Hall.

“We have alums and other people who have been on campus for years and years who want a Brachman brick,” Allen said.

This isn’t the first time something like this has been done at TCU. Bricks from the old Brown-Lupton Student Center were also handed out to students and faculty back when it was torn down.

Those bricks were handed out after the Brown-Lupton Student Center was torn down in Summer 2008.
